As part of the proposed cycle path project to Fraserburgh, Invercairn Community Council are in the process of clearing up the site of the old Cairnbulg Station with a view to making this area a feature of the overarching project.

The Community Council have secured 420 saplings for the site from the Woodland Trust and propose to have a "Plant a Tree" day on the 20th of November which will be open to all those interested in this community led initiative. We're expecting the tree delivery to happen early November and the Community Council will be set up in the Library car park and we are looking for volunteers to turn up and help plant the 420 trees around about the Cairnbulg Station area. We'll designate the areas with distances between saplings. So it's basically turn up with a spade, wellies and gloves and you're good to go. At the end we're providing refreshments and a burger for all involved.

Further to this, we are offering everybody the chance to "Sponsor a Tree". For a (minimum) £5 donation per tree we will record that tree as being sponsored by the donator and the plan is that a "map" of the sponsored trees along with the names of the sponsors will be produced and displayed permanently in the Cairnbulg library.

Trees can be sponsored for children, as a dedication or remembrance for somebody or a beloved pet, as a reminder of a special occasion like a wedding or a special anniversary or just for the sake of the sponsorship itself. Anything really.

All proceeds raised will go towards the cycle/ walking path project and there is no obligation to sponsor a tree, anybody can still turn up on the day to help plant without payment. The sponsorship is just an added extra for the chance to have a tree dedicated for someone or something in perpetuity.

Anonymous sponsorships are also welcome.

The Community Council will treat the sponsors reasons for sponsoring a tree as being personal and private. There is no requirement that the reason should be made known to us.
